Eight - grade test scores
Publication Date:
February 3, 2001
Subject:
Public Schools, Education - Statistics
Abstract:
The state released the results of the Grade Eight Proficiency Test administered last spring to eighth - grade students in 657 schools statewide. The table below lists 89 schools in Burlington, Camden and Gloucester counties that took the test. Schools are grouped by District Factor Group, or DFG, a designation based on socioeconomic factors with "A" signifying poorest and "J" signifying wealthiest. Comparing schools in different groups is viewed as unfair because some districts contains disproportionate numbers of students from disadvantaged homes who tend to score lower. Scores are broken down by percentage of students in each school who scored below proficient , proficient and above proficient. The final two columns are based on a formula divides by Gannett newspapers in New Jersey that weights test results and assigns rank to schools. Abstract courtesy of the Courier-Post
